Edunia

The name of Villa Edunia (EDA) is a tribute to Brazilian-American contemporary artist Eduardo Kac, a multidisciplinal talent who is particularly well known for his works that integrate biotechnology, politics, and aesthetics. That name and idea are most clearly reflected in the artfully modern botanical prints in the wallpaper and cushions, but also in the way that the luxury rental property is integrated into its natural environment.

Just a few minutes up the Lurin hillside from Gustavia, the newly built four-bedroom vacation home has full-wall windows overlooking blue skies and bluer seas. The vistas at sunset are particularly stunning.

Kac’s work is displayed throughout Villa Edunia, which is also distinguished by soft Caribbean colors and warm-toned natural wood. That aesthetic, combined with all those windows that let the cooling island breezes waft through, creates a feeling of comfortable languor.

Because Villa Edunia is built over two levels with four bedrooms that are similar in size and futures, it is a good house for a big family or several couples vacationing together to share. Indoors, it is centered on a large main room with the living area and the kitchen. This room can be closed off and air-conditioned our completely opened up to the elements on both sides.

There is also outdoor space on two sides. In the back, there is a grassy garden area (great for children playing) with a seating area and a grill. In front, with the best view to the sea, the main outdoor space by the heated pool extends out to the front, where you can find a large dining table and a seating area. The roof and vaulted ceiling of the indoor living area extends over this terrace, giving parts of it protection from the sun and the sporadic tropical rain, and unifying the design of the entire villa.

Each of the four sunny, ensuite bedrooms have ocean views. Three of them are on either side of the pool, and the fourth is on the lower level. Each has a king-size bed that can be separated into two twins.
